Elias Khoury Association Launched In Honor of August 4 Victim

The parents of Elias Khoury, one of the youngest victims of the August 4 explosion, have launched a nonprofit organization to support students’ education in Lebanon in memory of their wonderful son.

The association “aims to grant scholarships to underprivileged students,” and wants to support students seeking to pursue careers in rap or architecture, two of Elias’ dreams.

During the weeks following the August 4 explosion, many were moved by the heartbreaking scenes of Elias Khoury’s classmates carrying his coffin.

Back in May of 2021, Lebanese streaming platform Anghami made it possible to listen to Elias El Khoury’s rap music. The young man had dreamed of breaking into the music industry for some time. He went by the name “A$hCa$h” and recorded a few songs. His Anghami profile is now verified, and his tracks are featured on several Lebanese rap playlists. We so wish that Elias could have seen his dream realized throughout his lifetime — his dreams, along with those of 200+ other people, were cut short by a negligent state.

Ahead of the second anniversary of the blast, we hope that justice will be achieved for Elias and all the other victims.
