Daughter Of Man Who Worked At Grain Silos Shares Heartbreaking Message

After the collapse of a portion of the Beirut Port’s silos yesterday, the daughter of silo employee and August 4 victim Ghassan Hasrouty, Tatiana Hasrouty, shared a heartbreaking message on her Twitter account.

Hasrouty revealed that her father always said that “nothing could move” the silos. She then denounced the loss of the monoliths and her father, while the political class responsible continues to enjoy the same power.

Ghassan Hasrouty had worked at the grain silos at the Beirut port for 37 years to make a living and support his family. When the blast happened, he was one of many people who were missing without a trace, adding to the suffering of his loved ones. For 14 days, his family was left in the dark on his whereabouts, until his body was recovered.

The collapse of the silos, just a few days before the 2-year anniversary of the port explosion, served as a traumatic reminder of the remaining impact of the explosion over the city and its residents.

We hope that justice will eventually be achieved for Ghassan Hasrouty and
