A nostalgic round-up of all our favorite Lebanese TV oldies (before Netflix was even a thing)!
1. 10 Abid Zghar
[Our apologies for the racial slur, this is the name of the show.]
Inspired by Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None,” the first Lebanese version of this series first aired back in 1974 on TeleLiban in black and white. Another unrelated version aired in 2014 on MTV. If you ask late 1990s/early 2000s kids, they’ll definitely remember the 2014 masterpiece that featured the most famous actors including Wissam Hanna, Carlos Azar, Taqla Chamoun, Chaouki Matta, Toni Nasir, Brigitte Yaghi, Georges Chalhoub, and Rita Harb.
Suspense, mystery, and horror written by Tony Chamoun and produced by Marwan Haddad, this series’ protagonist is an unknown man who brings his victims to an island and gradually makes them pay for their sins.

2. Min Ahla Byout Ras Beirut
This series aired in 2001 brings back the golden age of Beirut, featuring the rising stars Najwa Kaadi, Ziad Najjar, Samer Abou Rizk, Lama Najjar, and others.
The social drama focuses on the stories of each character in the house owned by mama Najwa Kaadi, and sheds light on social and family issues in Lebanon, such as love dilemmas, prejudice, battles between generations, and the like.
3. Abdo w Abdo
Released in 2003, this hilarious comedy series could not portray the difference of characters within the same family better. Written by George Khabbaz and directed by Vivian Zakoury, the comedy revolves around two cousins called Abdo and Abdo, who share an apartment while attending university.
With vastly different personalities and interests, their hijinks are hilarious!
4. Marte w Ana & Marte w Bente w Ana
The light comedy series delves into the daily lives of married couple Fadi and Carine, and later on with a new member, their daughter. At the time, Fadi and Carine were married in real life, and the sitcom was written by them and aired in 2001.
The delightful couple gives us a glimpse of what is it like to be married in Lebanon, surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors, and shows the struggle of dynamics between a dominant wife and a resistant husband.
Watch this and you might just think twice before getting married:
5. 3ayleh 3a Fared Mayle
The comedy sitcom that debuted in 2007 is another spin-off of Marte w Bente w Ana showing Fadi and Carine growing their family yet again. Showing the reality of the dynamic between children and parents in a very comedic way, the series is a must-watch to know all parenting tips and tricks and to learn how to set boundaries with your neighbors.
6. Ghannoujet Bayya
An epic 2006 rom-com series that will become your go-to comfort show, Ghanoujet Bayya stars Rana, daddy’s spoiled rich girl who is forced to learn the true meaning of hard work, what it means to be broke, and what true responsibility is after her dad goes bankrupt. With the help of her friends and family, she tries to find her way into the world, one job at a time. Adding another layer of complication to her life, Rana ends up falling in love with the man responsible for her dad’s financial woes.
The cozy feeling of love spiced up with drama is the main element in this series:
