It’s finally October, which has come to be known as Breast Cancer Awareness month since 1985. With breast cancer being the most prevalent cancers in women worldwide, as nearly 1 in 8 women get diagnosed with it during their lifetime, early detection is the key prevention.
Throughout this month, the Beirut.com family will be providing you with regular support by sharing key preventative methods and encouraging you to get professionally checked.
The
Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation is a non-profit initiative educating and raising awareness about breast cancer, has been going strong for over 10 years now, helping women all over Lebanon get self-checked and providing affected patients with comprehensive support.
Last year, the LBCF posted an informative and moving Instagram video titled “Khabazte?” as part of their awareness efforts – the video features famous bakery owner Em Ali teaching viewers how to press a healthy dough, only to discover she is indirectly demonstrating a self-examination for breast cancer symptoms.
As Em Ali says at the end of her tutorial video, always make sure to protect yourself and get checked in October, then once every other month!
