Lebanese Series About Beirut Blast Nominated For An Emmy

Writer and film director Lucien Bourjeily announced just last week that the anthology television series “Beirut 6:07” is nominated for an Emmy award under the Short-Film series category. Bourjeily was one of the fifteen directors who participated in this anthology.

6:07 is a ِseries of 15 short films that tackle the tragic 2020 Beirut explosion highlighting stories of victims as well as survivors. The name is in reference to the time the explosion happened, 6:07 PM.

The show was initially met with backlash upon its release back in October 2020, as many people found it to be insensitive and tone-deaf. However, the producers are satisfied with putting Lebanon’s case back on the map with the Emmy nomination.

“Beirut 6:07” is available for viewing on Shahid.
