Zeina Kanjo Strangled To Death By Allegedly Abusive Husband
Zeina Kanjo, a Lebanese model from Al Bireh district in Akkar, was found killed in her marital home in Ain el Mraisseh on Sunday. A forensic doctor determined that her death was due to strangulation presumably at the hands of her husband who fled the scene and is still at large.
It was also revealed that Zeina had filed a domestic violence case against her husband only days prior to her death and was awaiting a divorce.
Zeina Kanjo is not the first victim of femicide in Lebanon. Women have long been victims of such crimes, but Lebanese laws continuously fail to protect women and girls from domestic violence.

This lockdown period has been particularly harsh for women who have routinely been trapped with their abusers, worsening the already horrific pandemic of domestic violence in Lebanon.
