Radio Host Rima Njeim Criticized For Caviar Tweet

That is why when radio and TV host Rima Njeim tweeted an image of caviar locked in anti-theft seals at a supermarket, Lebanese Twitter was quick to jump at the opportunity to tell her how tone-deaf she sounded.

Njeim was shining light on the fact that as “luxurious” items become more and more expensive, they become more prone to theft and was categorizing this as something the political ruling class has done to us. Safe to say, Lebanese tweeps did not feel the same. Here were some of the reactions:

In return, Njeim decided to respond to the criticism with a voice message explaining that she meant to discuss how the situation has come to resorting to anti-theft seals in order to stop people from stealing, and that instead of targeting her, people ought to be targeting the ones in charge of our demise instead.

We can see the big picture but maybe using caviar, a luxury product, as an example wasn’t the right way to go with this. Good idea, bad implementation. What do you think?
