U.S Administration Reportedly Set to Sanction Gebran Bassil

According to the Wall Street Journal, the United States is reportedly set to impose sanctions on former Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
According to sources cited by WSJ, this move has been under consideration for months and the administration is expected to announce the decision later today.
This comes after US sanctions were also declared on former ministers Ali Hassan Khalil and Youssef Fenianos for claims of corruption and political ties back in September 2020.
Whether this speeds up the formation of the coming government or halts it further as many are saying, only time will tell. This comes as Lebanon continues to grapple with a multitude of crises.
