A Look At The Prestigious School Jihad El Arab’s Son Goes To
While families in Lebanon are struggling to withdraw their OWN money to cover their children’s tuition fees and others are barely making that kind of money and have resorted to removing their kids from private schools, Jihad El Arab reportedly has his son set in one of Europe’s most prestigious boarding schools.
College Alpin Beau Soleil in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland boasts a hefty fee of $141,000 per year, additional charges and trip expenses considered, according to an article from 2019.
Who is Jihad El Arab and how can he afford such a school?
A close friend of the Hariri family, Jihad El Arab owns one of the state’s largest private contracting companies and overtakes the majority of government projects like building landfills and repairing Salim Slem bridge.
In other words, he gets paid from YOUR tax money, and apparently he’s been putting them to good use.
What’s so special about this school?
It’s one of the 15 most expensive schools in Europe, located in the mountains near Geneva, with views of the Rhone Valley. The school boasts a restaurant on the ski slopes and offers activities like skydiving, snowboarding, mountain climbing, and more (as opposed to taking them to the soap museum and dream park).
How do we know Jihad El Arab’s son goes there?
The school posted an adorable father-son picture to their Instagram, highlighting his satisfaction with the wonderful establishment that he has chosen for his little one. The picture was later taken down, but not before people were able to snatch a screenshot (don’t you just love technology?).
We can’t help but wonder how years of political dealings and governmental contracts have given Al Arab an unfair advantage over the regular governmental employee. While we certainly believe in children’s right to a decent education, we just wish it wasn’t funded from our pockets, or at least that our own children were given an equal opportunity to learn.
