Whether they lost an argument or hurt our feelings in some way, Lebanese parents are very peculiar about pride and they’ll (for the most part) never apologize. Here are six ways they’ll express remorse without saying sorry.
1. “Yalla ta3eh 3al akel”
Sounds like such a mundane everyday thing, right? After an argument, this is a classic parental apology.
2. “Na2sak masareh?”
Of course you won’t be hearing a sorry so, what’s the next best thing? Money! (Not that we’re complaining.)
3. Pretending that nothing ever happened
If everything returns to normal after an argument, you know you’ve won.
4. Asking your siblings to be nice to you
They’ll take your side for once.
5. They don’t bug you about curfew.
Your night of freedom, curtesy of your non-apology apology.
6. They will get up and get their own remote
Your parents won’t be calling for you from across the house to ask you to get the remote for them that is right in front of them? That is THE ultimate apology.
