7 Places To Learn A New Language In Lebanon

Have you always wanted to learn how to speak Spanish, Italian, or maybe even Korean? It’s time to finally check that resolution off of your list and book your spot at one of these seven places in Lebanon where you can learn a foreign language. Most of these classes start in February, so you better hurry up and secure your place.


1. Berlitz Language Center


Located in Hamra, Berlitz is one of 500 centers in over 70 countries where you can study the language of your choice for business, pleasure, or travel. You can choose from private, semi-private, or group classes, in addition to their unique ‘Total Immersion’ program.

Languages offered: Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish

Prices: Starting at $608 for groups of 4-8 people organized by level


2. American Lebanese Language Center – International House (ALLC)


Located in Sin El Fil, Saida, and Jbeil, the center generally offers all languages at 8 major levels, ranging from beginners to proficient. Classes take place twice to three times a week over a period of two to three months.

Languages offered: Chinese, German, Spanish, Italian, and French

Prices: Starting at $180 depending on the desired level and language


3. Goethe Institute

If you’re planning on taking a German language course or you already know a little German, the Goethe Institute is the perfect place for you. In their general language courses, you can set your own pace and decide whether you want to learn intensively or extensively, and even choose one of their special courses that enable you to improve your business German or study special topics.

Prices: Starting at $400 depending on level and intensity


4. Instituto Cervantes


At the Instituto Cervantes, not only will you learn the Spanish language, but also get the chance to explore different aspects of Spanish culture. In their cultural program, they offer theater-related activities, dance, music, literature, art, architecture, and more – all of which are open to the public.

Prices: $375 for a 60-hour course for any level


5. University Saint Joseph


USJ offers foreign language classes that are open to USJ and non-USJ students alike. You don’t necessarily need to be enrolled in the university, anyone willing to learn can sign up.

Languages offered: French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Armenian, Spanish, German and Italian

Prices: $180 per credit, 2 credit classes are 1h15/week and 4 credit classes are 2h30/week


6. American Learning Center


American Learning Center is located in Tayouneh and offers many foreign language classes in six different levels.

Languages Offered: French, Spanish, and Turkish

Prices: $25 per hour (private lessons) or $90 per level (available for Turkish)


7. Fondation Albert Nassar

Fondation Albert Nassar, located in Bqennaya, is an NGO offering free foreign language classes and other cultural activities to people who are eager to learn. Make sure to contact the NGO ahead of time to get information on their current course offerings and starting dates.

Languages Offered: French and Spanish

Prices: Symbolical fee for any language class
