5 Amazing Song Covers By Lebanese Artists

There’s nothing better than a familiar song with a twist, especially when a local artist has come up with the arrangement. Here are a few awesome covers by Lebanese artists that we found on YouTube. Let us know which ones we missed!

Ingrid Bawab – Drunk in Love (Beyoncé Cover)

The lyrics aren’t all there, but Ingrid’s voice is one of the best you’ll ever hear. She also does impressive covers of Lean On and Royals. It’s great when you feel like the singing is organic and effortless. Goosebumps guaranteed.

Pindoll – My Baby Just Cares for Me (Nina Simone Cover)

In case you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know the wonder that is Nina Simone, Pindoll’s version of this song will definitely kick-start your obsession. The lead singer Erin’s voice is soulful and incredibly unique, and the band put an almost reggae-like spin on the original. A must-hear!

Hiba Kadri – Make You Feel My Love (Adele Cover)

This one’s for those days when you want to hug your pillow, wallow in bed and think of your High School crush. Not a single bad note on the whole track. Hiba’s been singing for a while, and she has a range of covers on YouTube-almost all of which are just her singing into her webcam-absolutely inspiring. Oh, and brace yourselves for 2:30. Pure magic.

Mashrou’ Leila – Toxic (Britney Spears Cover)

The only bad thing about this cover is that there’s no studio version of it. The song has been performed live on several occasions, though. The band revamped the musical arrangement and rewrote the lyrics….wait for it….in Arabic. Miles sexier than the original, with Arabic swear-words to match. Careful not to show this to anyone under 18, no matter how big a crush your little sister has on Hamed.

Xriss Jor – Care About Us (Michael Jackson Cover)

Amid piles of trash and a looming garbage crisis, Xriss used her voice to send an important social and political message. If you haven’t heard this version, you absolutely must. Lyrics have been adapted to Lebanon’s waste situation, and parts of the video are filmed during the You Stink protests. Not to mention this ex Voice finalist has a vocal range that’s hard to find, to say the least. Xriss’s version of Sia’s Chandelier is also mesmerizing!
